Accelerating decarbonization with $70M in new funding
At Watershed, our mission is to accelerate the fight against climate change. We work with companies like Airbnb, sweetgreen, DoorDash, Warby Parker, Twitter, Flexport, and Shopify, who use our software to measure their carbon emissions and drive them to zero.
We feel the urgency of this work building every day: scientists tell us the world has only eight years to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half. To move faster, we’ve raised a $70M Series B financing at a $1B valuation co-led by Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins. We’ll use the capital to accelerate hiring around the world, and continue building the tools companies need to run effective climate programs.
We’re also honored to welcome new advisors who’ve led some of the most impactful climate initiatives of the last decade, including:
- Mark Carney: As UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, governor of the Bank of England, and founder of Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, Mark has spurred the financial sector to fund a zero-carbon future.
- Christiana Figueres: As Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC from 2010-2016, Christiana spearheaded the landmark Paris Agreement. She’s the co-founder of the Climate Pledge, committing 200+ companies to net zero by 2040.
Solving climate change will require organizations to rethink the decisions they make every day—about how to power buildings, make products, grow food, and move goods. Watershed is designed for the people on the front lines of this work: climate teams who use our software to measure emissions, deploy clean power, fund cutting-edge carbon removal, collaborate with their vendors, and report on climate progress with the same rigor as their financials.
Already, the companies on Watershed manage more than 20 million tonnes of CO2e per year—four times the carbon footprint of the city of San Francisco. We’re proud to work with them as they drive these emissions to zero.
We’re just getting started on this mission, and we’re hiring in every role, across the US and Europe. Whether you’ve spent time building software, working with customers, crunching data, or going deep on climate, we’d love to chat about working together.
